Azealia Banks might be the queen of controversy in the entertainment business as a whole. She is infamous for picking fights over social media, attacking and counter-attacking other public figures in a unique style of fierceness. Many view Banks as an unreliable source because of her history of volatility and boisterous outbursts. This definitely played a part in why Russell Crowe has yet to be held accountable for his assault against the rapper. Azealia Banks claims the actor became violent towards her at one of his Beverly Hills parties in 2016. When she filed a police report to address the abuse, the L.A. County district attorney’s office labeled Crowe's actions as "justified" and refused to prosecute. Even RZA who had invited Azealia denied her claims. The "212" rapper is now requesting support from the public by launching a GoFundMe campaign whose aim is to fund a lawsuit against Crowe. The financial goal is $100 000 and has accumulated contributions amounting to $2000 since the campaign's creation on June 24th.
Banks sums up the assault in the description of her campaign, writing, "Crowe called me a n*gg*r, choked me, and spat on me... if I were a white singer he wouldn’t have even thought about laying a finger on me." She states she wants to let "the world know that black women are victims to the same sort of disgusting violence men in Hollywood deal out."
