In just two weeks and some change Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has joined the ranks of the top five highest-grossing films in the history of the world.
According to Variety, the film closed out the week with $61.8 million at the domestic box office while adding on $281.3 million from a strong showing overseas in a total of 55 international markets. That brings the Infinity War tally to $1.606 billion to make it the fifth highest grossing movie of all time. It now joins the ranks of Avatar, which claims $2.788 billion, Titanic at $2.187 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which clocks out with $2.068 billion and Jurassic World which finishes with $1.671 billion.
Previously, the film already went on to top Marvel’s original Avengers to be the highest-grossing superhero film while its predecessor Black Panther still holds the crown for being the highest-grossing superhero film in North America with $696 million.
Currently, Infinity War has racked up a total of $547 million at the domestic box office, doing so in just a matter of three weeks. After its debut in China this weekend, the film is officially boding well in all markets. You’ll recall that it bowed in the Chinese market with an impressive $200 million to cross over into billion-dollar territory on the global scale.
