For anyone with an internet connection, the new record set by the trailer for Marvel's Avengers: Endgame will come as now surprise. The trailer was viewed 289 million times in the first 24 hours after it was released at 5 am pacific time this past friday. To give you some perspective, that number is very close to the population of the US () and much larger than the population of its Northern neighbour, Canada. In fact, it's likely that the amount of people who watched the trailer in the first three hours after its release had already surpassed the population of The Great White North. The view count was tabulated with stats from YouTube, Facebook and Twitter (Billboard's figures are calculated in a similarly confusing way).
The news was announced by Marvel on Saturday, with a tweet where they thanked their loyal fans for coming out to watch the video, although, honestly, whether or not you're a fan of The Avengers, you were probably force fed the video: "To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning til the endgame and making Marvel Studios’ #AvengersEndgame the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!”
