If you’re already familiar with Shoreline Mafia it may very well be on account of the crew’s viral “Musty” track which has managed to garner 15 million views on Youtube since its debut last year. If not, you’ll likely be inundated by their presence sometime in the near future as the West Coast-based quartet has recently made public their signing to Atlantic Records.
“Shoreline is about to take over and they're creating their own lane," senior director of Atlantic’s A&R, Austin Rice tells Billboard. "Go see a live show and you'll understand why. They've got the vision and we're excited to help magnify the movement they started."
In recent times, Atlantic Records has been ahead of the curve in locking down talent emerging from within the newest wave, specializing in zeroing in on viral stars with the potential to be major. You’ll find success stories in the likes of Cardi B, DRAM, A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Skies to name just a handful. It’s a fact that played a major role in Shoreline’s decision to hop on board, too.
"Besides growing up and always wanting to be a part of a major label, when it finally came time to it, I knew Atlantic was the best move because of the facts behind it,” explains de facto frontman OhGeesy.” It's simple. Look at their roster. Everybody is winning, and they know how to market music in a way that I feel is better than any other label!"
