Another "Jay" has been added to the Roc Nation roster. It was announced yesterday (Nov. 12) that New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica signed with Jay-Z's personal imprint, joining acts J. Cole and Willow Smith at the recently formed label. And to celebrate, Jay-Z threw a lavish party at New York club The Box that neither Jay E, nor anyone else in attendance, would soon forget.

Justin Bieber is apparently very serious about his "rap" career, so much so, that the youngster is planning on releasing a mixtape with Young Money member Lil' Twist. According to Twist, the teen heartthrob will take his flow to a full album.

During the pre-taped chat, things took a turn for the worse after the network made ‘Ye watch a clip of former President Bush speaking about the rapper’s infamous remarks.

As most of you hip-hop fiends know, Kanye West’s highly anticipated new album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" leaked online Tuesday afternoon.  Now remember, the album doesn’t officially come out until November 22nd.  But has that ever stopped the internet before?  Of course not.  What’s funny is, to our generation, the day the album leaks online is the real release date.  Who cares when it comes out in stores?

While this might have been a bit too heady for our holiday gift guide, Yale University has recently announced that it will publish 'The Anthology of Rap.' The book is billed a 1000-page collegiate text that studies the impact of hip-hop within the African-American community, as well as the current role of rap lyrics as a strand of modern poetry. Yale Publishing mainly focuses on academic texts, so this is yet another indication that hip-hop as gone all the way from the streets to the academy since its birth in the late '70s.
