Tomorrow will mark two months since Mac Miller passed away, breaking the hearts of so many within the hip-hop community. I'll always remember how I reacted to the news as I dropped my head in disbelief, sad that I had to write an article about the death of one of the most talented artists in the world. It's never a nice feeling when you have to process the loss of somebody in your life. For many of us, Mac Miller was not a personal friend or family member. However, we let him into our lives as we supported every musical release and project. Ariana Grande has understandably been shaken up about his passing, reacting to it on several occasions. Having been romantically involved with the rapper, Grande's most recent comments are likely the most heartbreaking.
Fans were sending the pop star videos of Malcolm that they retrieved from his live streams, which she reposted. Miller can be heard listening to a then-unreleased song from Sweetener in the video and while Ari's replies are short, they're remarkably powerful. "His voice and laugh," shared the singer, remembering the good times she spent with him. She then brought a tear to many eyes, writing, "he is supposed to be here." Finally, she thanked the fan who sent in the video.
After going through so much in the last twelve months, Ariana looks to be using music to move forward. She's released a new song called "thank u, next" and is planning to drop an album of the same name.
