The Washington D.C. singer-songwriter known as Ari Lennox has gained a loyal fan base from her soulful, smooth vocals and has now finally announced that her debut album is on the way. Ari's most beloved tunes are "Whipped Cream" and most notably "Shea Butter Baby" featuring J. Cole that was featured on the Creed 2 soundtrack.
The Dreamville signee has previously explained the grueling process of her debut tape coming together, detailing how it's time for the world to hear her music. "Everything happens for a reason,” she explained, “and I feel like it makes me stronger. But I’m also just like, ‘Yo, it’s time for this project to drop [...] A lot of these songs I’ve been holding on to for a long time. I just want the world to hear them. And then, finally, I can exhale.”
In a new post on Instagram, Ari shared an image of a hard drive with her name taped on it with a caption that reads how the album is complete. "My debut album is finished. The masters are in. #SheaButterBaby coming soon," she wrote.
While there's no set date yet, the announcement is enough to hold us over in the meantime. Who's here for this??
