Birthday boy Drake has certainly been feeling the love, and as of yesterday the OVO rapper is one year older. At 31, and with seven commercial projects under his belt, it's safe to say that Drizzy is something of a veteran in the game. As he slowly approaches OG status, it seems inevitable that he'll begin collaborating with some up-and-comers outside of the OVO camp, especially if they seem poised to blow up in the near future. On that note, XXL has shared speculation that Drake may or may not be collaborating with Ohio rapper Trippie Redd, who has been enjoying the success of his recent A Love Letter To You 2 mixtape.
While there hasn't exactly been any concrete confirmation about this collaboration, a little bit of sleuthing has pieced together a compelling case. For one, Trippie Redd posted a childhood picture of Drake in one of his Instagram stories. Alone, that might seem like an isolated incident of Stannish behavior, but there's more. In another post, captured below, Trippie Redd posted a picture of Drake's platinum plaque for Take Care, along with the caption "Larry's Office." Again, it's not much to go on, but it does indicate that Drake is on Trippie Redd's mind. At the very least, he's having meetings with "Larry" that clearly have something to do with Drizzy. XXL speculates that the Larry in question might be Apple Music's Larry Jackson, with whom Drake has a good relationship.
Lastly, and perhaps the most solid piece of information, is a tweet from DJ Flippp, in which the producer hyped up an upcoming collaboration between Drake and Trippie Redd. "Just wait till y’all hear that Trippie Redd x Drake collab.. sheeesh.... I couldn’t believe it," writes Flippp, who has produced for Redd, Famous Dex, and more. Check out the images below, and sound off. Is this something you want to hear?
