The New Orleans Pelicans are set to host the Golden State Warriors tonight, in what will mark their final game of the regular season - and likely the final game with Anthony Davis on the roster. Davis is listed as "probable" for the season finale, but he hasn't played in the last six games and it remains to be seen if he'll actually lace 'em up tonight.
The Pelicans Instagram account shared footage of AD arriving at the Smoothie King Center moments ago, and he was wearing a "That's All Folks!" t-shirt, a fitting wardrobe choice considering this will surely be his last season with the Pels.
Davis, 26, has spent his first seven seasons in New Orleans since being selected first overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.
The Pelicans flirted with the idea of trading Davis at the NBA deadline, at his request, but they ultimately decided to keep him on the roster. They plan to re-engage teams in trade talks during the off-season.
After his trade demands went public, Davis explained that he has given the city and the fans everything he has, but it's simply his "time to move on."
"It’s my time. I feel like I gave this city, the organization, fans everything I felt like I could. Don't know how long I'm gonna play this game. People's careers are short. I feel like it's my time to move on."
"I'm going to remain professional," Davis told reporters. "I'm under contract, until my time ends here, that's what I'll do."
In 56 games this season, Davis averaged 25.9 points, 12 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 blocks per game. The Pelicans enter the season finale with a record of 33-48, currently the ninth worst in the NBA.
