Amy explains why she came forward with her husband's diagnosis.

Amy Schumer paid a visit to The Late Night With Seth Meyers show recently where the I Feel Pretty actress discussed her husband's autism diagnosis, leading her conversation to be a trending topic which is why we're writing about it right now. Amy and husband Chris Fischer got married in February of 2018 and they are now expecting their first child.

Chris is on the autism spectrum classifying as a high-functioning adult. The proper definition of autism is "a developmental disorder of variable severity that is characterized by difficulty in social interaction and communication and by restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behavior."

Amy discussed the latter in her Netflix stand-up show Growing. "That's why we both wanted to talk about it because it's been totally positive," she told Seth. "I think a lot of people resist getting diagnosed and even some of their children because of the stigma that comes along with it."

She added: "The tools that we've been given has made his life so much better and our marriage and our life more manageable. I just wanted to encourage people to not be afraid of that stigma."
