Amanda Seales signed on as a full-time host of The Real at the beginning of this year but, after her contract expired, she decided that she is no longer willing to be a contributor on the show, choosing not to renew her deal.
The media personality believed that her voice was being suppressed by the higher-ups on the set, choosing to leave this week. She spoke with Brandon Victor Dixon during a live-stream and explained her decision.
"My contract is up at The Real and I didn’t renew it, because it doesn’t feel good to my soul to be at a place where I can not speak to my people the way they need to be spoken to," said Seales. "And where the people that are speaking to me in despairing ways are not being handled."
She went on to suggest that she believes her voice was being muffled.
"I’m not at a space where as a full black woman, I can have my voice and my co-workers also have their voices and where the people at the top are not respecting the necessity for black voices to be at the top too," she added.
Congratulations to Amada Seales for staying true to herself. We'll keep track of what she has planned next.
