The beloved Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek, is currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer and plans on fighting the diagnosis against all odds. The 78-year-old has continued to maintain his role on the game show as he goes through chemotherapy, but it doesn't come without difficulties. Opening up to CBS News, Alex explained how he once cried through excruciating pain while at work.
"This got really bad,” he told the publication. “I was on the floor writhing in pain. It went from a 3 to an 11. And it happened three or four times that day while we were taping. So, that was a little rough on me.” Alex detailed how once he made it to his dressing room, just barely, he "writhed in pain and cried in pain."
Alex was told he could cancel the taping for the sake of his pain, but he said no. "So, I got myself together, and spasms of that kind usually last about 10 to 15 minutes," he explained. "'All right, here we go again.' But I got through it. And the producers were very kind. They said, 'Look, if you don't wanna do the show we'll just cancel taping.' I said, 'No. We're here. We're doing the shows.'"
