Adele's single "Hello" was wildly successful prior to the release of Adele's highly anticipated new album 25, and the success continues with 25.
The UK singer chose not to put her new album on any streaming services, thus likely increasing what would already be extremely high sales projections. Billboard reports that the album has already gone double platinum-- over the course of a weekend. 25 dropped on Friday November 20th, and as of November 23rd, the album has sold 2.3 million in pure sales, according to Nielsen Music.
That makes 25 the second album to move 2 million copies in a week since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991. By the end of the week, it's expected to surpass the single-week sales record currently held by boy band *NSYNC for their No Strings Attached album (the album did 2,416,000 copies in the week ending March 26, 2000).
Congrats to the talented singer!
