Nipsey Hussle is a regular at the Staples Center, generally sitting court side when he is in attendance. Friday's Clipper-Cavaliers showdown marked the first performance by Nipsey since his sold out Hollywood Palladium show. He took centre court during performing a medley of songs from his new album Victory Lap, including his breakout single "Last Time That I Checc’d." Did I mention that YG himself was on hand to perform his part in the song. Nipsey also took gave the spectators in attendance a look at the title track “Victory Lap,” as well the last verse in "Blue Laces."
It's hard to believe that Victory Lap is the rapper's debut given the influence he has asserted over his city for years, most specifically his Crenshaw District. The album cracked the Billboard 100 at #4 in its first week and continues to perform well several weeks later.
The halftime performance seemed to have given the local side a spark, as the Clippers used a strong 2nd half showing to put away Lebron's Cavaliers. If you haven't already, give Victory Lap a listen before you're late to the party. The performance is also available in full down below.
