While Lil Baby’s track record of crafting hooking songs is well-documented, Cleveland upstart Ricki Rich is looking to make the same true of her own catalog as she drops off her latest video for “This Morning.”
The cut, produced by OG Parker, is packed to capacity with energy as Ricki Rich hops out with a rapid delivery, letting loose on the routine narrative of vacillating between the jeweler and the plug. Things slow up, but the spirit maintains once Baby comes through with his verse, woven seamlessly between Ricki’s hook.
For the past year, Lil Baby has seemingly followed after his fellow Quality Control member Lil Yachty as he lent his vocals to plenty of newcomers’ track, but it looks like a Drake cosign and a Billboard-charting project won’t put much of a dent in that grind.
