Recently it was announced that newly minted free agent, Vado, would be signing with DJ Khaled’s We The Best Label – as was confirmed by the rapper himself on Twitter. Later, he back tracked and has now said that Khaled’s label is at the top of the list, but nothing is official. In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club the Slime Flu rapper talks about separating from both Interscope and Dipset, and how he came to be on the market looking for a new label.
Talking about his relationship with Cam’Ron, Vado says he has nothing but love for the Diplomats General, but it was just time for him to move on, “Ain’t nothing, still love, ya know Cam doing movies...he onto his next career,” and on how they separated ways, he adds, “I spoke to em and said ‘lemme move’ and he was ready.”
Vado then talks about his frustrations with Interscope, a label notorious for letting artists be and market themselves on their own. He says they did not relate to him, so he was ready to part ways, “Them just not knowing and understanding me...them not understanding what to do with my music, what to do with me.” Adding that the majority of the mostly West Coast based label was not present on the East Coast to watch him rise, “They don’t understand me, cause they didn’t see the struggles or see the turn up.”
