Last Friday saw drops from Rich The Kid and The Weeknd, both of whom were expected to do numbers. As of now, we can get a decent idea of what we'll be looking at for the first week tally.
According to Hits Daily Double, The Weeknd's My Dear Melancholy, is positioned for a total of 167K, with 70K coming from physical sales. It's a good look for Abel, who once again proves his status as one of music's most commercially successful artists. Newcomer Rich The Kid made a respectable effort with his debut album The World Is Yours (read our review here); while he might not have the star power of The Weeknd, he still managed to turn in a total of 56K, with 7K coming from physical sales. As for their position on the hip-hop charts, it seems as if The Weeknd is destined to hit number three, while Rich will land at number eight.
While those are the new additions, a couple of familiar faces have continued to prove their longevity. XXXTentacion's ? continued to prove itself a Billboard mainstay; the album is currently on its third week, and has occupied the number two spot. In total, X's sophomore project has raked in 269,000 sales thus far. Perhaps it's safe to say that X is coming for the position of hip-hop's most popular up-and-comer. It seems like congratulations are in order to all parties involved.
Have you peeped any of these albums yet?
