The Black Eyed Peas are in the midst of a full-blown comeback. Since the group respectfully parted ways with Fergie, the trio of will.i.am, Taboo, and Apl.de.ap have been on the grind non-stop, promoting their recently released "Street Livin" single on Stephen Colbert. This morning, the legendary group hit up The Breakfast Club to chop it up with Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne, discussing their comeback, Taboo's successful battle with cancer, the infamous Chanel West Coast club incident (where she namedropped apl.de.ap), and more.
On the music tip, will.i.am explains the group's decision to gravitate back to a more conscious, socially-charged sound. "When we did The End, our antennas were up, and we were just in tuned with what was going on," explains will. "Obama had just got elected, and there was a desire to go out....Right now, "Street Livin" is really what I feel the world, especially here in the States, is feeling. It just so happens that not many artists are speaking on it."
Taboo chimes in, saying "we've been on a hiatus for eight years, so all the work we've been doing, philanthropic endeavors...it just was preparing us for this ultimate fight that we're embarking on now, with Black Eyed Peas standing up and actually having a social message."
