Nikolas Cruz is the latest suspect behind the 18th school shooting in America in only the second month of 2018. After killing 17 innocent people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida yesterday, new reports prove that the FBI was warned about Nikolas' plans for the shooting.
YouTuber Ben Bennight contacted the authorities after a user by the name of Nikolas Cruz left a comment on his account saying "I'm going to be a professional school shooter."
"[The police] came to my office the next morning and asked me if I knew anything about the person," Ben told Buzzfeed News. "I didn't. They took a copy of the screenshot and that was the last I heard from them."
Ben was contacted again yesterday, five months since hearing from the authorities, after Nikolas Cruz open fired at the Florida High School. It hasn't been confirmed if the YouTube comment was made from Nikolas. BBC reports that teachers were warned about Nikolas as he was not allowed on campus with a backpack, and had been expelled.
Since hearing the reports, President Donald Trump tweeted a statement urging people to "always report such instances."
