We're sure you guys are already happy that it's Friday and thankfully Jorja Smith has made the day even better by dropping off her debut album, Lost & Found. The 12-track tape has been a minute in the making and features one of her first greats, "Teenage Fantasy," as well as the most recent loved single, "February 3rd."
One of the songs that without a doubt deserves some recognition hears Jorja pause from her lovely singing voice to lay down some bars with a freestyle on "Lifeboats." The song hears the U.K. bred singer speak on life's challenges and difficulties asking why we as people watch others fall down when we have the means to help them.
Jorja chatted about her album right before it got into our hands saying Kendrick Lamar was a fan, but didn't want to feature on it. “No features on my first album. I thought, ‘Nah.’ Just me. People probably are gonna expect me to have a Drake feature and Kendrick feature. Maybe Kali Uchis feature, too. Who else? Stormzy feature. Sorry! […] But what am I going to do for album two? I’ve got stuff to do.”
Listen and let us know what you think!
Quotable Lyrics
So why do we all fall down
If there's a reason we can stay afloat?
Why do we watch them drown?
We're too selfish in the lifeboats
Why do we all fall down
