Eminem's Donald Trump-skewering freestyle at the BET Awards was one of the most-talked-about pop culture moments of the year. However, it surprisingly didn't elicit a response, or even so much as a comment, from Trump himself. As he revealed in a conversation with Vulture yesterday, Em was not only expecting, but hoping, for some back-and-forth between himself and Trump, to the point that he'd prepared some rebuttals. "I want him to answer me because I got ideas for all kinds of shit to say back to him if he does," he said. "I’m not going to give any away now, but I’ve got lines ready if he says something about me."
On Tuesday morning, President Trump, despite his usual Twitter fingers, had still not said a word about Eminem. Meanwhile, his son, Donald Trump Jr., couldn't help but weigh in.
Responding to a tweet from Fox News' Stephen Miller which pointed out Em's annoyance with Trump's silence, Trump Jr. decided to take the opportunity to mock the effort the rapper put into his Trump attack. "It’s a bit odd that he’s admitting to having prepared heavily to take on a 70 year old politician," he said, before seemingly criticizing the rapper for not going for an authentic, off-the-dome freestyle. "Probably not the best look. So much for freestyle."
He closed with a hashtag that riffed on Eminem's 2000 hit "The Real Slim Shady," writing, "#WillTheRealLoserPleaseStandUp."
So far, Eminem has not responded to Trump Jr.'s remarks, but judging by his Vulture comments, it would not be surprising if he did.
