Robin Thicke has had a busy year, with filming for Kevin Hart's comedy "Real Husbands of Hollywood," plus working on material for his upcoming sixth studio album-- the singer had to cut one out, and it definitely wasn't the music. This morning Robin visited the Breakfast Club on Power 105 and discussed not signing on for the next season of "Real Husbands of Hollywood" so that he can finish his album.
Robin also revealed the title of said album while on the radio show, and it takes the title of the song, "Blurred Lines," which has already seen a lot of success (and the music video with naked girls probably didn't hurt).
As Robin explained to the Breakfast Club, "The album is called Blurred Lines. I've realized as I've gotten older that we all think we're living either in a black or white world, or on a straight path, but most of us are living right inbetween those straight lines. And everything you thought you knew, the older you get, you realize, 'damn, I don't know nothing about this. I better pay attention, I better listen and keep learning.' So I think that, that's what I've been realizing these past few years."
The r'n'b singer also explained his foray into a more poppy sound than his usual. "The last year I've been wanting to have more fun. I think I took myself very seriously as an artist and I wanted to be like Marvin Gaye, and John Lennon and Bob Marley and these great artists and songwriters that sang about love and sang about relationships," Robin explained. "And then the last year, my wife and I just really wanted to have fun again, we wanted to be young again and we wanted to dance again and go out with our friends, so I wanted to make music that reflected that culture also."
Check out Robin's full interview on Power 105 below. He goes on to discusses his partnership with Remy Martin, his wife, Paula Patton, his venture in to movies and screenwriting, and his love for Drake and Kanye West. The singer just released a new single at the beginning of the week, which features 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, called "Give It To Me."
