Just one week after the release of J. Cole's K.O.D., he has been dethroned from his streaming record as Post Malone is looking to sell more album units than the North Carolina rapper. Both artists have been incredibly successful with their most recent full-length projects, promising a bright 2018 in terms of what is to come music-wise. J. Cole had previously set the Spotify record for first-day streaming numbers, gathering 36,656,086 plays but, when beerbongs & bentleys released, it shattered the record by amassing over 10 million more streams. With a Billboard number 1 spot basically guaranteed for Post on the album charts, it is being reported that he will have the most successful debut thus far in 2018.
Industry sources at Hits Daily Double are noting that b&b will move anywhere from 430K to 460K equivalent album units, with up to 165K pure album sales. This would mark the largest first-week numbers for any release this year, notching another massive accomplishment for Post. The singer impressed many with his Stoney follow-up and, remarkably after almost a year and a half, Posty's first studio album is still expected to chart within the top 10 this week.
The top 10 is expected to include Cardi B, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Janelle Monae and, of course, J. Cole's K.O.D. Peep the full list here and tell us what you thought about the album.
