Royals host anti-porn seminar for players & coaches.

The Kansas City Royals are urging their players and coaches to stop watching porn in conjunction with anti-porn group "Fight the New Drug."

The Royals reportedly hosted an anti-porn seminar with players and coaches last week in which "Fight the New Drug" co-founder Clay Olsen spoke to at the team's spring training facility in Surprise, Arizona. The organization bills itself as “raising awareness on [porn's] harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts."

According to USA Today, Royals vice president of communications and broadcasting, Mike Swanson, said the seminar was mainly for "impressionable" minor-league players, and that the pornography discussion was just one part of the off-the-field education the team provides to players.

Royals general manager Dayton Moore has expressed concerns about watching porn in the past, telling reporters, "We talk about pornography, and the effects of what that does to the minds of players and the distractions, and how that leads to abuse of — domestic abuse — to abuse of women."

Of course, not everyone shares this view. Especially women in the porn industry.

According to TMZ Sports, porn star Lisa Ann thinks the Kansas City Royals are "overstepping into what players do in their personal lives," adding that watching some skin flicks is definitely safer than other off-the-field activities such as skiing or dirt biking.
