People close to Kanye reportedly believe that his slavery comments were a result of the rapper being off his meds.

Yesterday, Kanye West visited TMZ Live to speak about his recent actions. Namely, the rapper wanted to touch on his political stance, his preaching of free thought and other topics, bringing along Candace Owens to the offices. While he was there, he uttered yet another controversial sentence, saying, "When you hear about slavery for 400 years ... for 400 years? That sounds like a choice." Many were appalled by the statement as TMZ reporter Van Lathan called him out on the spot. Later in the broadcast, Ye revealed that he had had liposuction and was addicted to the opioids that his doctors prescribed to him. Noting that he took as many as 7 per day at a time, he is only taking 1 or 2 every week, and members of his team believe that could be why he made the questionable comments.

According to TMZ, Kanye's medication has been "problematic," with sources saying that the rapper is "controlling his own destiny by self-regulating." Apparently, people close to Kanye believe that at least some of the comments made on TMZ Live were a direct result of the Yeezus artist not taking his medication regularly, which Kanye revealed is because he was told, "it kills genius."

Kanye has attempted to clear up his comments on Twitter but many are still angered by the slavery remark in particular. The comment is likely his most controversial to date, at least in the last year, and although he may have been referring to slavery of thought as he has alluded to, the remarks are sure to alienate much of his audience.
