With lots of projects in the works, producer Hit-Boy talks about re-focusing on rapping, recording with Britney Spears, and confirms "Cruel Winter" is not coming.

After producing arguably the biggest track of 2011 with “Niggas In Paris”, Hit-Boy followed it up with a big year in 2012 by producing hits for Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music, amongst others, and even dropping his own solo project HITstory.  Now, after inking an official deal with Interscope, the producer/rapper talks about his foray back into the rap game, and the G.O.O.D. Music collaborator talks about recording with Britney Spears.  The Cali native also confirms that there will be no Cruel Winter collaborative project.

In a recent interview with Power 106, the HITstory artist recalls what it was like getting back on the mic after focusing solely on producing for a few years, “when I was doing HITstory I was just learning myself again...I kinda put the mic down for awhile, and when I got back in a groove I was just finding my voice, finding what to say.”

His producing is not confined solely to hip hop bangers.  The producer considers himself capable of just making good music for various genres, and discusses working with pop icon Britney Spears recently, “To be honest it’s not, I’m just a music maker in general, when I get in a room, I just do what I do and it comes out naturally.”

Earlier in the week, Common said that all the talk of a Cruel Winter project was rumors and that members of G.O.O.D. are too focused on solo albums at the time.  Now Hit-Boy echoes this, “From what I know, it’s not real...tll I get that word from Kanye himself, and he’s like ‘we doin this’, then it’s not real.”  Asked what he’ll do with recorded verses that didn’t make it on Cruel Summer, he half-joked, “I might use a couple of the good lines, and put them on this new [HS87 collborative] All I’ve Ever Dreamed Of project.”
