South African-bred emcee Nasty C inked his most recent deal with Universal Music Group just this year, and now the 21-year old is prepping for the arrival of his debut effort under the label Strings and Bling. Just before that arrives, the rapper has come through with a teaser, recruiting A$AP Ferg for his latest “King” single. Anchored down with an addictive bass line and impalpable swagger, the track is an affirmation of C’s rising position in the game.
“It’s not like I’m calling myself king,” he explains in a statement. “It’s about these kids who talk too much and I’m mocking the term ‘king’ because of how those guys call each other that.”
There is not yet an official release date for Strings and Bling, but according to general manger of Universal Music Group Nigeria, Esegozie Eze, it’s a goodie.
“[Nasty C’s] latest album is a testament to the skill, craft and passion that he brings to his game every single time,” says Eze. “Each song on the album tells a story and connects with listeners in different ways, and we are thrilled to bring this excellent body of work to the market.”
