Serena Williams and her Reddit co-founder husband, Alexis Ohanian, got married at the end of last year, two months after the birth of their first child, Alexis Jr. The tennis all-star has made her way back to the court and has had her husband and baby watch her from the sidelines proving to be just another Hollywood couple goals.
In Serena's recent New York Times interview, the 36-year-old explains how she never really thought she would end up with a white man. When asked by the publication what message her marriage to Alexis sent, she said: "Oh my God. Literally all I tell Alexis is, ‘well, you know, there’s such a difference between white people and black people.’ He always gets to hear about the injustices that happen; that wouldn’t happen if I were white," she explained.
"It’s interesting. I never thought I would have married a white guy, either, so it just goes to show you that love truly has no color, and it just really goes to show me the importance of what love is. And my dad absolutely loves Alexis.”
She added how her goal was to always be with someone who laughed with her, loved her and be someone who "treated her nice" and she has that with Alexis. “And you know, I’m sure there’s other people out there,” she said. “But you know, Alexis is the one I connected with, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
