Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown suffered a partially torn calf during last night's 27-24 loss to the New England Patriots, and he will miss the final two games of the regular season.
While Brown won't be suiting up for games against the Texans and Browns, NFL Network's Ian Rapaport reports that the injury will not require surgery and the Steelers are hopeful he'll be healed for their playoff run.
Brown, who had two catches for 24 yards, injured his calf early in the second quarter and was ultimately taken to the hospital after being helped off the field.
In 14 games this season, AB had 101 receptions for 1,533 yards and nine touchdowns. It marks the fifth consecutive season that he's had 100+ receptions, which is an NFL record. Ben Roethlisberger made the case for Brown to be the first wide receiver to win the NFL MVP award.
Per ESPN,
"[Brown] deserves to be an MVP candidate, if not the MVP," quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said during the week. "The first WR to get it, I don't know anyone more deserving. What he's capable to do every week is spectacular. I'm happy to be a part of it and do my little part. It's so much fun to watch him."
Pittsburgh, 11-3, is currently sitting in the #2 seed in the AFC which puts them in position for a bye in the opening round of the playoffs.
