LeBron James Endorses Women As Coaches In The NBA

LeBron has done more than impact the evolution of the game of basketball. He is also a keen influencer on the culture of the sport, on issues of physical and mental wellness. He has also made the most of his political platform in moments of duress.

LeBron James spoke about gender representation during a presser. The conversation was sparked by a reporter who asked him about San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon, who was in the running for the Head Coach position for the Colorado State University's men's basketball team. Lebron responded in generalities:

"I mean, if she knows what she's doing, we'll love it, I mean, listen, at the end of the day, basketball ... it's not about male or female. You know the game, you know the game."

Lebron then reinforced his opinion by looking at the proposition from a player's perspective. 

"It's the same thing with players. You have different walks and shapes and lives of players, but if you can play, you can play. You always accept it. You can't play, you can't play. If you know the game, you're always accepted. If you don't know the game, it's all about your knowledge of the game. it shouldn't matter if you're a male or a female."

NBA players generally take their cues from LeBron on a political level, so his endorsement will likely have a cultural impact whether intentional or not.
