Last month, Jordan Peele took home an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for his film Get Out - marking the first time a Black writer has won in that category. After his milestone moment, it was announced that he and his comedy brother, Keegan-Michael Key were linking up for a Netflix animated series and now Jordan has yet another project added to his list.
Page Six reports that Amazon has given the green light to a docu-series that will follow Lorena Bobbitt, the woman who cut her husband's penis off after she claimed he raped her. The series will be broken down into four-parts and dive into the marriage of John and Lorena and how the worldwide headline laid out the groundwork for the modern day 24-hour news cycle. Jordan will play executive producer and help explore the discussion of domestic and sexual abuse in America.
“When we hear the name ‘Bobbitt’ we think of one of the most sensational incidents to ever be catapulted into a full-blown media spectacle,” Jordan said. “With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice. This is Lorena’s story and we’re honored to help her tell it.”
