Tekashi 6ix9ine kicks back on Fat Joe's "Coca Vision" podcast.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, polarizing though he may be, has been on an undeniable run. Lore surrounding the young rapper has been tumultuous, with co-signs from Swizz Beatz, a Billy-Madison-esque GED challenge with yet-undetermined results, and a few brush-ins with local Minnesota street toughs lining his curriculum vitae. Still, he's become a champion of the youth; "Gummo" was among the most streamed songs in New York City, Boston, and Philly. The rise of the rainbow-headed Tekashi remains one of hip-hop's most open-ended narratives, but an upcoming album (February 23rd) should help answer a few questions vis a vis artistic longevity.

In the mean time, the press run continues. Tekashi recently sat down with Don Cartegena himself on Joey Crack's Coca Vision podcast, where the pressing questions were indeed answered. Namely, the origin story behind Tekashi's signature hair. "The first color I did it was green and purple," reflects Tekashi, in perhaps a homage to the Joker and/or Barney. "I was always a fan of like living free, not living to what society told me what I could and couldn't do...I'm me, and if n***as don't fuck me it, they don't fuck wit it." Fat Joe approves.

On a more serious note, Joe inquires about Tekashi's feud with Casanova, playing the mediator in an effort to prevent any real-world consequences. Thankfully, Tekashi seems to feel the beef has been blown out of proportion, but Joe fears the rapper's entourage may prove an unwieldy beast. It's an interesting inter-generational conversation, and one worth checking out below.
