There is understandably a lot going on in this track. Some may believe that the production of "Halla" is too crowded but, upon getting used to the sonic elements that continually get introduced throughout its length, Taz Arnold's latest single is nothing short of a neo-soul gem. With different instrumentals being introduced by the second and Anderson .Paak and Ty Dolla $ign's distinct vocal stylings, this track should not work on paper so for Taz to have pulled it off is impressive.
Slowing down for Paak, the song features as many switch-ups as your favorite Kendrick cut. It goes without saying that Taz Arnold is ready for the spotlight after being a major contributor to Kendrick Lamar himself on To Pimp A Butterfly, Taz's recognizable preferences are clear from his work on Kenny's "u" to the star's current single "Halla." With his new single, the Sa-Ra member steps into a position where he can be recognized further as the talented performer he is. Let us know what you think of his latest effort.
Quotable Lyrics:
Cherries on a candy tree, I'll touch what I can reach
Your sex like branches
To the leaf
And it won't let go of me, I'm 'bout as high as I wanna be
