While they've had their disagreements, both Kanye West and Charlamagne Tha God have much in common. Least of all, both men have no qualms likening themselves to Gods. After teasing an extensive meeting of the minds for a minute now, the full interview between Yeezy and Uncle Charla has officially surfaced. Clocking it at nearly two hours, there's no doubt that Kanye will open up about a variety of topics, past, present, and future. We're still in the process of unpacking this one, and we'll be sure to update this story accordingly.
From the jump, Kanye opens up about his "breakdown," which he prefers to refer to as a "breakthrough." He reflects on feeling overwhelmed by a sense of competition, and cites the initial commercial response to The Life Of Pablo, which failed to match the sheer ubiquity of Graduation. "To put that same amount if not more work into a piece of work, and then you used to it coming out like Graduation where everything is everywhere, it's frustrating. Ever since the Taylor Swift moment, it's never been the same, the connection with radio...It was much harder after that."
At around the twenty minute mark, Charlamagne asks Kanye if he went too far talking about Jay-Z's family. "It depends on how you look at it," says Kanye. "If we're family, if we're brothers...that's my family. If we're business associates and this, then it's too far. Respectfully...I gotta say, I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding. I understand they was going through some things...If it's family, you're not gonna miss a wedding."
