The police chief who signed off on Chris Brown's alleged community service hours for probation has resigned.

More news comes in about Chris Brown's probation fiasco. The police chief who signed off on Brown's alleged community service (which is currently being questioned by the D.A.) has now resigned.

TMZ reports that Bryan Norwood, who is the police chief in Richmond, Virginia, and was closely involved in verifying Chris' community service hours, has resigned. Norwood wrote a letter to the court on Chris' behalf confirming all his community service hours had been completed, and took over Chris' case from the Richmond Probation department. The mayor of Richmond has said that he and Norwood reached a "mutual agreement" for his resignation.

Rumors had been circulating earlier this month that Norwood might resign for a similar job in North Carolina, however in Richmond the word is that the Chris Brown troubles escalated his decision to resign.

The judge has asked Brown to verify his hours.
