Reggie Bush is done with the NFL.

The tumultuous NFL career of NFL running back Reggie Bush has officially some to an end. The former Heisman Trophy winner officially called it quits during a recent live TV broadcast, hanging up his cleats after playing for 11 seasons and splitting time between the New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills.

Bush didn't seem to grappling with the decision either. “I’m done,” he said during an appearance on the NFL Network. “It’s not breaking news. I’ve been saying it. I said it all season long, I said, ‘Listen, if I don’t play this year, I’m going to retire.’ Because I’m not going to spend a whole year off, come back, 33 years old, trying to get back in the league. Listen, once you get to a certain age as a running back, they just start to slowly weed you out.” Watch a clip of the announcement below.

Initially rising to prominence as a San Diego-area high school, Bush went on to win two National Championships with USC in 2003 and 2004 before being drafted by New Orleans. Though plagued by injury at times, Bush helped lead the Saints to a Super Bowl win in 2010, compiling two 1,000-yard seasons over the course of his career as well: once with Miami in 2011 and again with Detroit in 2013. Though never reaching the same sort of world-beating heights that he did in college, Bush's solid body of work in the NFL is one to be admired.
