Elizabeth Olsen has risen above her familial ties with sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley to become an acclaimed Hollywood actress in her own right. After receiving praise for her performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene, the young actress has quickly expanded her acting resume, while also nabbing a starring role in the colossal Avengers series.
Assuming the role of Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlett Witch, Olsen's character brings a healthy dose mystical might to the proceedings. However, there is one thing the actress would modify about her star-making role. Speaking with Elle magazine, Olsen admits that she would like to slightly alter her Wanda's costume, noting how she does not want a cleavage corset. "I like corsets, but I’d like it to be higher. Everyone has these things that cover them — Tessa Thompson does, Scarlett does. I would like to cover up a bit. It's funny because sometimes I look around and I'm just like—wow, I'm the only one who has cleavage, and that's a constant joke because they haven't really evolved my superhero costume that much."
However, Olsen understands that female superheroes are cloaked in a certain manner. "I think of the costumes and what we have to wear—it’s more about iconic images, because that's what these movies are.... I think that's the goal with the costumes, and it's not representing the average woman."
Likewise, Olsen is also thankful Marvel decided to ditch the garb worn by Scarlett Witch in the comic book series, which portrays the Avenger as a hyper sexualized creature of debauchery.
