A couple weeks ago, LiAngelo Ball and two others players of the UCLA Basketball team were arrested for shoplifting in China. The three collegiate students were facing serious time behind bars, up to 10 years to be exact, but were able to get out of it thanks to a little help from President Trump. The trio returned to US soil last week, and were suspended indefinitely from UCLA basketball, before they went ahead & issued a thank you to President Donald Trump for helping them escape prison time.
However throughout the entire situation, LiAngleo’s outspoken father, Lavar Ball, hd remained silent on the matter, even though people were patiently waiting for his response. At the time Lavar said his son getting caught for shoplifting in China “aint that big of a deal,” and it looks like he still believes that.
On Monday night, Lavar finally broke his silence on the whole China x Trump matter and sat down on CNN to talk about the situation with Chris Cuomo, but he doesn’t seem to be thankful for Trump’s work. In fact, Lavar said he would've given President Trump a "thank you" had the President brought LiAngelo Ball and his UCLA teammates back home from China on Air Force One airplane.
“I would have said thank you if he would have put (LiAngelo) on his plane and taken him home...there’s a lot of room on that plane.”
Lavar’s main argument is that there’s no proof Trump was the primary reason his son and teammates were able to leave the country. “Did he help the boys get out? I don’t know,” LaVar said. “If I could thank anyone its [Chinese] President Xi [Jinping].”
"Tell Donald Trump to have a great Thanksgiving because Big Baller is," the elder Ball later said, to close out the lengthy 22-minute interview.
