Listen to "Change Lanes," the intro track off Kevin Gates' new "Chained to the City" EP.

Kevin Gates is back. After teasing us with new music over the past few days on Instagram, the Baton Rouge rapper decided to come through today and surprise fans with a new 3-piece EP called Chained To The City, which addresses his recent incarceration & current strict travel ban that doesn't allow him to see his family or travel for concerts (or leave in the state of Illinois for that matter).

Looking to highlight one of the three tracks, which are all dope btw, here goes the intro song “Change Lanes,” which shows off more of his versatility. Showing off his slick bars & melodic singing-raps, Gates raps about being introverted these days after having gone through what he had in prison and being wrongfully accused in court. “I aint never been a gang member, but Illinois labeled me a gang chief” he spits. If you’re a fan of Gates, you’re probably going to appreciate this one. This shit pretty fire.

Quotable Lyrics:

Diamond teeth
When I blessed the game I was being quiet but got a lot to say
Unique chains on the freeway don't need rings cocaine rate
Made statement I was grinding on em, I'da order up on a replay
Rolex no diamonds in it, Swiss moving but no time but tickin'
Introverted not trying to kick it, private life please mind your business
Introverted these days, introverted these days
