PETA calls out Miller after catching hammerhead shark.

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is reportedly being investigated by Wildlife officials in Florida over a hammerhead shark he caught during a recent fishing trip off the coast of Florida.

Miller shared posted photos and shared footage of himself reeling in a nine-and-a-half foot hammerhead shark last week, which prompted PETA to remind everyone that hammerhead sharks are prohibited from capture in Florida waters. According to the Denver Post, Miller and his crew released the shark after taking photos with it, but The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is still investigating the incident as a result of PETA's concerns.

“The FWC has received the images and video and is looking into whether or not a violation occurred in this incident,” Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesperson Carol Lyn Parrish said in a statement, according to the Denver Post.

According to regulations posted on the commission’s website, hammerhead sharks are classified as “group 3” sharks and harvest in state waters is a second-degree misdemeanor. In Florida, such crimes are punishable by up to $500 fine and 60 days in jail, as determined by a judge, according to the Denver Post.
