The latest addition to the Star Wars revival craze is only a few months away. Solo: A Star Wars Story, documents the story of a young Han Solo before his appearance in the original Star Wars trilogy. The movie features an impressive cast which includes, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, and Paul Bettany. However, there is one particular contribution to the movie that fans are applauding: Solo cups.
Yesterday, Lucasfilm announced the movie's promotional partners that will advertise the movie worldwide. The hand-selected partners include Denny's Corp, Esurance, General Mills, Nissan, Symantec Corp, and of course, Solo cups. In a statement by Lylle Breier, the SVP of Global Marketing Partnerships at Walt Disney Studios, she says " “Our six promotional partners for Solo: a Star Wars Story have done a fantastic job developing first-class, innovative campaigns in support of the film. We are excited to share the compelling experiences and relevant activations that our partners have created for our fans.”
Judging from the response online, fans are already loving it. While the partnership isn't likely to be in-your-face product placements, we can expect inventive advertising from the select few companies. Keep an eye out for the partnerships in the weeks leading up to Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 25th.
