Three men in Chicago have been accused of selling a fatal strain of marijuana. Fouad Masoud, 48; Jad Allah, 44; and Adil Khan Mohammed, 44, were arrested on Sunday after the sold the drug, known as K2, to undercover cops at the convenience store that they co-own; they have been charged with conspiring to distribute and sell a controlled substance, according to WGN-TV.
Authorities have noted that the synthetic form of marijuana they were peddling was laced with rat poison, and came sealed in containers that were labelled "Crazy Monkey" and "Matrix."
As a result, the Illinois Department of Public Health issued a public warning on Monday that revealed the drug can cause severe bleeding after 56 people sought medical attention. Some of the victims experienced blood pouring out of their mouths, ears and eyes.
Additionally, two people have died after having smoked this particular strain of pot, according to officials working at the Department of Public Health.
"The bleeding is not expected, at least in such a significant population so quickly," reveals Dr. Melissa Millewich, an ER physician who has been treating victims of this shady drug operation.
