As with most Fridays, today is stacked full of insane releases and one of the most intriguing has to be Desiigner's surprise EP, L.O.D. The Brooklyn-bred emcee has been on the shelf for a while with very few releases since "Panda" and "Tiimmy Turner" took off but Desiigner is looking to regain all the hype that had him touted as one of the next up. Signing with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label and making an appearance on The Life of Pablo, many were expecting the young rapper to capitalize on all the chatter by imminently dropping his long-awaited Life of Desiigner. While we are still awaiting his debut album, Desiigner has dropped off a lethal new EP to hold us over.
We sat down with the Brooklynite for an exclusive interview where he spoke about the project and how it came about. Although many box him in as a New York rapper, he believes that people should open their minds further and come together for collaborations on all sides of the planet. Shouting out 6ix9ine, Jay Critch and Don Q in particular, the G.O.O.D. Music signee spoke on the differences he's noticed between life on the East Coast and chilling in Los Angeles, remarking that "you don't get dope like this" in Brooklyn. While the weed is undeniably better in L.A., he still has major love for his hometown, with a New York influence being heard throughout the project.
Desiigner claims that right now, "it's the storm," revealing that a lot is about to come out. From his plans in G.O.O.D. Music to his remix of "God's Plan," it looks as though we'll be hearing a lot more from him coming up. Make sure to check out L.O.D. and let us know what you think.
