It's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point that Kylie Jenner is pregnant with Travis Scott's baby. There has been no official confirmation as of this writing, but between the baggy clothes and the rumors that they already know the sex of the unborn child, Twitter sure acted like the news was set in stone. However, though she comes from a family who has been known to turn their shameless self-promotion into big pay days, this news might stoop to a new low for a Kardashian-related cash grab: pregnant Kylie Jenner is about to be this year's "sexy" Halloween costume du jour.
The technical name for the costume, sold at Yandy.com, is "Reality Star in the Making," but it's clearly modeled after the young beauty product maven and her ever-growing baby bump. The description for the item reads as follows: "Boost your show's ratings in this exclusive 'Reality Star in the Making' costume featuring a white dress with a V-neckline, criss-cross spaghetti straps, a ruched and wrapped bodice, and a faux pregnant belly with a tie back closure. (Wig and phone not included.)" First of all, what do you mean phone and wig not included? What kind of a rip-off is this? Also, you know there are no more original ideas out there in the world when the Halloween costume industry, already full of over-sexualized pop culture iconography that women are somehow goaded into buying prior to the 31st of October, is relying on a teenager who is knocked up to help drive sales this year.
As dumb as this is - and this is Hall of Fame level idiotic - this isn't the first time a Kardashian family member has been awarded (is that the word?) a "sexy" Halloween costume that felt more than a little icky. When Caitlyn Jenner came out as a transgender woman, the costume industry tried to capitalize with some related get-ups, with some predictably horrifying results. Granted, both women are in the public eye and therefore should expect a certain amount of overreaction to every move they make and every word they say, but come on. This "sexy" pregnant Kylie Jenner costume will kill a few of any buyer's brain cells upon placing that order.
