Philipp Plein recently revealed his Fall/Winter 2018 collection in a runway presentation that was as a grand spectacle similar to the designer's previous outings. Plein's latest display was a heady mix of rappers, robots, snowmobiles and a spaceship, revelling in the grandeur and mysticism of the extraterrestrial.
The designer transformed a Brooklyn warehouse into a wintry atmosphere set in outer space. The entirety of the floorspace was covered in mounds of faux-snow that fell from the ceiling throughout the duration of the presentation, while a massive spaceship that hovered atop the guests in the middle of the room emitted laser beams.
The show was kicked off by an explosive performance from rap's current reigning kings Migos, as well as Rich the Kid. The presentation then took a turn for the conceptual, as supermodel Irina Shayk, flanked by a man dressed in a robot costume, pranced around the space before the procession of models began.
The collection contained a variation on traditional skiwear that were accented by teddy-bear backpacks, a plethora of Playboy bunny logos, as well as Swarovski-encrusted snowboards. Migos returned to their post near the end of the runway to serenade spectators with "Motor Sport" and "Bad and Boujee," ending the presentation on a high-note. Young Thug, who did not walk the runway or perform, was there to support girlfriend Jerrika Karlae, who was a model taking part in the spectacle.
