Philadelphia Sixers rookie Ben Simmons did not hold back when questioned about President Trump during an interview with Fox Sports Australia.
Simmons, who was born in Melbourne, Australia, was straight forward with his opinion of Trump being an "idiot" and a "dickhead," citing Trump's recent comments about NFL players and the national anthem.
“I think he’s an idiot,” Simmons said. “If we were in Australia right now, a lot of people would call him a dickhead. That’s how I personally feel.”
“Some of the comments he’s just made about players, the NFL, the anthem,” Simmons added. “Everyone respects America, and everyone thinks America is a great country, but he’s the wrong person to be in charge of it.”
He elaborated,
"He just brings more anger and hatred to the U.S. It's unneeded," Simmons said. "I think the U.S. is a great country. I love being here. I'm very appreciative of the job I'm in. I think he's the wrong person to be in charge. He's definitely not a leader."

Simmons has dual citizenship in Australia and the United States and hasn't been shy about bashing Trump ever since the Presidential debates last October when he joked about Trump on Twitter with his teammate, Joel Embiid. He's not alone in his criticism of Trump, as countless NBA players including LeBron James, Steph Curry, John Wall, Bradley Beal and others all spoke out against the POTUS during NBA Media Day earlier this week.
The 21-year old 6'10 (point) forward was selected by the Sixers with the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft but sat out all of last season due to a foot injury which required surgery. He'll be ready to go at the start of the 2017 season though. Philly will take on the Wizards in DC for their first game of the year on Wednesday, October 18th.
