At this point in his career, 50 Cent is more than just a rapper - he's an entertainment mogul who has credits in the worlds of film and television as well. With his appeal across multiple mediums, it's no surprise that he's helped build a sizable fan base for all of his show business endeavors, music and otherwise. With all this in mind, a story that 50 Cent revealed during a recent interview with Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97 doesn't seem shocking at all: Donald Trump wanted to use that appeal for political gain.
According to the Power actor and producer, the Donald offered him a large sum of money to join his Presidential campaign in a small capacity. In truth, it had to do with getting the African-American vote over the course of the campaign process. “Before he got elected, they were having issues with the African American vote,” said the rapper, just after the 34-minute mark of the conversation. “They wanted to pay me $500,000 as part of the campaign just to make an appearance,” Fif said. “I was like, ‘Nah, that’s not good money. That’s not worth it," he added. The rapper explained that he said no to the offer more because of the potential for an association with Trump to taint his reputation in the entertainment industry and less because of the outright financial offer. This story is also coming off an appearance The View earlier this week, where 50 said, among other things, that "we gotta get rid of him."
In fact, 50 Cent has spent a decent amount of time taking shots, big or small, at various celebrities over the course of the press blitz he's had this week. In addition to the Trump story, Fif went at it with Ebro over who allegedly "killed" New York hip-hop back in the day. "How you gone mess it up and say I did," 50 asked the radio host, in relation to the thought process that has 50 "pulling apart" the NYC scene. "You had everyone beefing with you, anybody [who] did a record with [Fat Joe] or [Ja Rule] was beefing with you...at a time when we could of had unity," Ebro shot back. Elsewhere, during an interview with The Breakfast Club, 50 Cent tried to skewer Irv Gotti and his BET show Tales, with his rival offering up a hilarious reply on Twitter.
