NFL Sunday Ticket customers can get a refund if they're unhappy with anthem protests.

DirecTV is giving some customers a refund for their NFL Sunday Ticket package due to outrage from the national anthem protests, according to The Wall Street Journal

The report states that customers who paid for NFL Sunday Ticket package can obtain refunds if they simply cite the ongoing national anthem protests as the reason they want to cancel their subscription.

Per Gizmodo

"On Wednesday, a customer service agent told us that the extension to get a refund was updated yesterday “so if customers do call in to cancel the NFL Sunday Ticket due to the protest, a customer will receive credit within 30 days, so they will get a refund for the NFL Sunday Ticket.”"

"The agent added that DirecTV “extended the cancellation grace period due to that incident,” and when asked what incident she was referring to, she said “due to the protest.”"

Typically, customers are not able to cancel the package, which costs roughly $280 and gives fans access to get out-of-market games, once the season starts, “but due to the protest, they have extended the grace period."

In Week 3, approximately 180 NFL players chose not to stand for the anthem and three teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks, stayed off the field altogether. On Monday night, the entire Dallas Cowboys team, including team owner Jerry Jones, locked arms and kneeled on the field prior to the playing of the national anthem.

Fans booed the protesting players at some stadiums while others took to social media to tweet at DirecTV about cancelling their NFL Sunday ticket subscriptions.

Protesting during the national anthem was started last season by free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who took a knee to raise awareness for social injustices and police brutality. As players across the league continued the demonstration this season, President Trump called on NFL owners to fire those players, which sparked a league-wide show of unity in Week 3. Several players have said that they'll continue their protest throughout the season.
