If you want Spotify's Premium services, you're going to have to cough up the cash.

For all you Spotify members who somehow managed to get yourself a free premium account because paying $9.99 a month was far too expensive then we have some bad news for you. The music streaming platform is cracking down on any suspicious activity that shows a free account with added benefits of premium with no payments.

Users who they found had suspicious accounts received a message that read: "Dear user: We detected abnormal activity on the app you are using so we have disabled it. Don't worry—your Spotify account is safe. To access your Spotify account, simply uninstall any unauthorized or modified version of Spotify and download and install the Spotify app from the official Google Play Store. If we detect repeated use of unauthorized apps in violation of our terms, we reserve all rights, including suspending or terminating your account."

It seems as though some users would download an altered version of the streaming service, enter their credentials and then they would get premium access such as unlimited song skips and no ads - the only thing missing was the higher-quality streaming. There's no word on the number of accounts that have these botched downloads, but the message to those involved comes just before the company is set to go public.

Spotify is said to have 159 million users around the world with 71 million of those on a paid premium subscription.
