Following reports of Lil Peep's death, many have spoken out against the glorification of popping pills in hip hop. While people have paid their respects and condolences to Peep and his loved ones, many have also took a moment to speak on the current opiate crisis and how it's been affecting the genre and community at large.

Azizi Gibson took to Snapchat to call out pill-popping culture in hip hop. "I'ma say this shit, stop letting this popping pills culture take away good people who just needed somebody to talk to. Don't let these fucking rappers convince you that there not about some drug when it's in their name. I had a little fuckin' cousin of mine fuckin' come to me and say 'oh, I did a few Xans here and there because one of my favorite rappers talk about it all the time," he said.

He continued his Snap by saying condoning pill-popping is a poisonous culture and that rappers have a social responsibility to differentiate what's right and what's wrong.

"Artists have social responsibilities to let people and everyone know right or wrong and they don't. You wanna know something funny? I dun met all your favorite artists and really, 65 to 75 per cent of them are assholes who don't give a fuck about anything, especially you."

He also hit Twitter shortly after finding out about Peep's death to elaborate further what he said.

"It ain't just about who you are on the track. It's about what you stand for & represent when there's no music in the background. Forgot already?" he wrote, "I don’t got beef with niggas.. I just got questions... if you getting all defensive .. you acting like A REAL HOEEEEEEEE."

While Azizi took a stand on the issue, Lil Uzi offered his opinions on pill popping culture. The rapper paid his respects for Peep but also stated he doesn't fault the rapper for his own death.

"We Would love 2 stop ..... But Do You Really Care Cause We Been On Xanax All Fucking Year," he wrote, "Rip Buddy I 100% Understand and I Don't Fault U."

Just a few hours a go, authorities said the evidence surrounding his death is suggesting at a possible Xanax overdose
